Hi, I’m Sam!

I’m a Malaysian YA writer and content creator. I’m deeply in love with all forms of storytelling and the ways in which we craft them, whether through visual or textual mediums. If I’m not hard at work writing novels and poetry, I’m often out exploring, trying to learn more about what the world has to offer. About Me

Storytelling is at the heart of what I do—I’m a sucker for good stories told in all sorts of mediums, including books, films, and even how stories are told across social media.

A quick rundown of my projects:

  • My first novel, Prodigal Tiger, a Young Adult contemporary fantasy novel, is releasing in Fall 2025! Stay tuned for more info, but in the meantime, you can learn more about that here. 

  • From time to time, I also wade into lifestyle journalism, with an eye to discussing food, history, and travel. You can see my full portfolio here. 

  • I love being behind a camera, both in photo and in video form. I’ve dabbled in VFX, shot short-form documentaries, and experimented with interactive mediums to create immersive, multimedia-rich stories. You can get a sampling of my work here. 

When I’m not writing, you can find me attempting to eat my way through the city, adding unnecessary harmonies to every song ever, or falling down a rabbit Wikipedia hole. Did you know that we don’t know what bears are actually really called? Good news: Now you do.
